MORE than 150 peo- ple took part in a morning of live safety exercises at Bolton Wanderers’ Tough- sheet Community Sta- dium in Middlebrook. The event aimed to test and practice proce- dures, operations and communication lines across a number of dif- ferent scenarios that have the potential to occur at the stadium. Joining Wanderers’ control room, hotel, stewarding and media staff were teams from St John’s Ambulance, Northwest Ambulance Service, Greater Man- chester Fire and Rescue Service, Greater Man- chester Police, Transport for Greater Manchester and Exclusec Stew- ards, as well as a group of volunteers. The morning, more than six months in the planning, began with a live fire evacuation of Bolton Stadium Hotel. That was quickly fol- lowed by a series of prac- tice exercises inside the stadium bowl, including the moving of injured persons and reacting to a medical incident. The exercise ended with a full debrief in the stadium’s Premier Suite, involving all those who took part. Phil Mason, chief oper- ating officer at Bolton Wanderers, said: “The weekend’s live stadium exercise was months in the planning and we FAMOUS authors, illustrators, sto- rytellers and entertainers held free sessions as part of the ‘What’s Your Story Chorley’ festival in the town centre. Free sessions included perfor- mances at Chorley Theatre, author meet and greets with book signings at Ebb & Flo Bookshop, creative 3D treasure map making with Magical StoryJarsandstorytellingatChorley Library, whilemusiciansentertained at 1498 coveredmarket. Chris Sinnott, chief executive of Chorley Council, said: “This year’s What’s Your Story Chorley? was the best attended yet, showing the sup- port that residents and visitors alike have for our wide range of events in Chorley. “We are delighted that we pro- vide this fantastic, free, event, that celebrates the arts and encourages people of all ages to be creative.” Putting safety to the test Live exercise: The operation looked at safety responses (Photo credit BWFC) were delighted so many representatives from key organisations across the region joined us to take part. “This will become an annual event that offers not only club staff but all agencies involved the opportunity to refresh their knowledge on protocol and highlight any possible improve- ments needed.” Story’s successful chapter
