Lucy Dixon from Westhoughton has been spending her weekends profitably at the Lancashire County Swimming Championships.

Over the course of three weekends, the Bolton School Girls' Division Year 8 pupil was winner of the Girls' U13 800m Freestyle and is now Lancashire County Champion in the event, runner-up in the 400m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke and third placed in the 400m Individual Medley, 200m Individual Medley and 200m Freestyle.

Despite her busy swimming schedule she also found time to represent the School and Bolton Town Team at Heaton Park in the Greater Manchester Schools' Cross Country Championships.

This was a Year 8/9 race which made her one of the youngest competitors, despite this, and some gruelling conditions, she took third place and was the first girl home for the Bolton Team.

She has now been selected to represent the Greater Manchester Team at the English Schools Cross Country Championship in Leeds next month. This will only be a week after she runs for the GM Team in Loughborough for the Inter County Cross Country Championships so a busy time ahead for Lucy (pictured).

She was joined at the cross country championships by Blythe Cordwell (Year 7) as she finished 14th and was the 3rd Bolton athlete home. The Y7 Bolton Town team came second overall in their competition.
