Bolton’s services for some of the borough’s most vulnerable people are celebrating after a continuous run of positive government inspection reports.
The Extra Care housing service provided by Bolton Cares was recently rated as good following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
This followed hot on the heels of good ratings for both the Shared Lives and Supported Living services which are also run by Bolton Cares.
Earlier this year, both Mere Hall View, which provides short break care for adults with learning difficulties, and The Respite House, which provides short break care for adults with mental health issues, were also rated as ‘good’.
In all five reports, staff were singled out for praise by the CQC, service users and their relatives.
Bolton Cares provides care for residents living in 10 Extra Care schemes in the borough. This can include assistance with the likes of washing, dressing and eating to help people to live independently.
Supported Living provides personal support and care for people with learning and physical difficulties, and mental health related illnesses. Staff help them to live independently in shared, rented accommodation.
Meanwhile, Shared Lives provides short and long-term placements with families for adults with learning and physical difficulties, and mental health related illnesses.
Chief Executive of Bolton Cares, John Livesey, said: “I am very proud of our staff who work hard to deliver high-quality services to ensure that people live full lives as independently as possible. These good inspection reports would simply not be possible without them.
“What is particularly pleasing is that not only were our services all rated as ‘good’ overall by the CQC, they were also all judged to be good in every inspection category.
“We will continue to build on these inspection reports to make sure that people receive the best help, support and care possible.”
