Leading rail infrastructure contractor, QTS, has brought its highly successful Youth Athlete programme to England, offering support and sponsorship for aspiring sport stars.
Originally launched in Scotland in 2014, QTS has already helped 16 athletes across a range of sports including rallying, swimming, skiing, athletics, boxing and golf.
QTS Group is now inviting young, emerging sport stars across England to apply for the programme and be in with the chance of joining the programme.
Aspiring grassroots athletes can apply by sharing their proudest achievements to date, their future aspirations and explaining how they would use the funds to take their sporting career to the next level.
The programme currently supports 10 Scottish athletes, with five new additions to the programme at the end of last year, including young boxer Cody McManus, from Edinburgh, and tennis star Jed McMillan from Ayrshire.
Alan McLeish, managing director of The QTS Group, said: “At QTS we pride ourselves on empowering young people, both in our own workplace and in the communities in which we operate, across the UK.
“The Youth Athlete programme is the ideal platform to support sport stars of the future and the success of the Scottish Youth Athlete Programme over the last four years is evidence of this.”
Alpine Skier Nicole Ritchie is an ambassador for the campaign and as a QTS youth athlete for five years, she is testament to the programme’s success, having taken various titles at both Scottish and English Championships. Nicole hopes to help nurture and inspire other young athletes as they join the programme and progress in their careers.
Alan continues: “We are now on the lookout for the next big sporting stars in England. Whether you have been doing your sport for two or ten years, if you are passionate about what you do and have a goal that we can support you with – we want to hear from you!”
