Drivers of electric cars in Bolton can re-charge their vehicles for free thanks to a generous offer from Bolton Council.

There are currently 18 electric vehicle (EV) charging points spread evenly across Bolton’s three town centre multi-storey car parks at Deane Road, Topp Way and the Octagon Theatre.

Motorists paying to park at any of the three sites are allowed to use the points to re-charge their vehicle.

But, that offer also extends to weekends and bank holidays when using any of the town centre multi-storey car parks is completely free.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Cllr David Chadwick, said: “We continue to offer free weekend and bank holiday parking to encourage as many people as possible to visit and enjoy Bolton town centre.

“For drivers of electric cars, that comes with the added bonus of recharging their vehicles without paying a penny.

“As a council, we are committed to expanding the number of available EV charging points in Bolton and we are currently working jointly with Transport for Greater Manchester to identify the best sites.”
