During Dementia Action Week, local MP Chris Green paid a visit to a Hazelbrook Christian Nursing Home in Horwich, to learn more about the support they provide.

On his visit to the Horwich-based nursing home, Mr Green saw first-hand the safe environment and compassionate care they provide for those who suffer with dementia.

Dementia Action Week is an annual campaign ran by the Alzheimer’s Society, which promotes the awareness of dementia and the importance of starting a conversation with those who suffer.

Speaking on his visit and Dementia Action Week, Mr Green said: “Dementia Action Week is a fantastic campaign that highlights the importance of having a conversation with those who are suffering with dementia.

“Unfortunately, despite most people knowing someone affected, two-thirds of people living with dementia report feeling isolated and lonely and having these conversations can really make a difference.

“During my visit to the Hazelbrook Christian Nursing Home, I saw first-hand what fantastic care they provide and learned more about what people can do to support those with dementia in our community.”
