Man taken to hospital after shooting in Bolton

A man has been taken to hospital after a shooting in Bolton.

Shortly before 11:30am today (Friday 12 July 2019) officers were called to reports that a number of shots had been fired close to the Outline Health & Fitness Centre on Lever Street.

A man, who is believed to be in his late 20s, has been taken to hospital and the extent of his injuries isn't yet known.

There is a scene in place in Lever Street as police continue with their enquiries.

Superintendent Rick Jackson, from GMP's Bolton District, said: "We believed this was a targeted shooting and we have no reason to believe there is a wider risk to the public.

"There is a large police presence at the scene as we continue with our enquiries and we are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, witnessed anything suspicious, to get in touch."
