Chris Green MP is inviting local school teachers to give their feedback on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) funding, to help shape the future of SEND provisions.

Currently, a consultation is looking at how the government can ensure that SEND children and their families continue to receive the vital educational support they deserve.

Earlier this year, the Bolton West and Atherton MP welcomed the government’s decision to increase SEND funding by £350million and he hopes that with the local knowledge and expertise put forward by Bolton school teachers, the government can further improve SEND provisions. This funding increase builds upon the £1billion boost in high needs funding made over the past five years by the Conservative government.

Mr Green said: “It’s our ambition to ensure that every child gets the best start in life and the best quality education they can, so they are able to go on to achieve well in school and college, find employment and live happy and fulfilled lives.

“SEND provisions play in important role in achieving this, which is why I am pleased that the government is reaching out to teachers and schools across the country to ask them what more can be done to support those with special educational needs.”
