It is less than 12 months since Horwich Heritage Society commemorated 100 years since the end of WWI and, incredibly, they are now about to commemorate another momentous anniversary at the start of September – 80 years since the start of WW2.
As with last year’s commemorations, Horwich Heritage will be presenting a full programme of events from 10am to 4.30pm on Saturday 7th September including an exhibition, book launch, the premier of a WWII play and a WWII singalong (see poster).
It is all free, so please come along and join in this poignant occasion. There is still time to bring along your WW2 memories, photos and memorabilia – every family must have some!
There are only a few tickets left for the garden party on Saturday, August 31 (2- 6pm) price £10 including BBQ food & drink, and for the annual trip to York on Saturday September 21. Price £10, so please book now.
As part of our service to the public of Horwich, the Society is looking to expand our rota of volunteers who look after the Horwich Heritage Centre. So if you can spare just a couple of hours a month and are interested in local history, please contact Stuart Whittle on 847797.
