Budding young musicians from across Bolton, Leyland and Edinburgh have taken to the stage to raise money for two local causes, Derian House and Music In Hospitals & Care - Scotland.

From dazzling drum performances to singing solos and guitar sessions, Rimmer’s Music school students wowed audiences across the North with children as young as six taking part.

Together the students raised £500 for their chosen local charities, with concerts taking place in Leyland, Bolton and Edinburgh.

The funds were donated to Derian House, a children’s hospice that supports over 400 young people across the North West, and Music in Hospitals & Care, a charity providing live music sessions for people who are receiving care or treatment in healthcare.

Commenting on the students’ success, Laura Heyes, Rimmers Music concert organiser, said:

“We host concerts bi-annually for all our students, so that they can showcase the work they’ve been doing throughout the year. It’s a great opportunity for children to get the chance to perform on stage and also support a local cause. The students get a great sense of achievement when they complete the show and raise money.”

Cathy Tate, Co-owner of Rimmers Music, said:

“It’s fantastic to see our students get together to raise money for a good cause. As an independent, family-run business, we like to make sure we have the opportunity to give back to the community.”

Rimmers Music School offers music lessons to ages 5+ from their seven music shops across the North of England. The concert programme will return in June with the inaugural summer concerts.

Music lessons can be taken at the stores in Blackpool, Bolton, Bury, Edinburgh, Leyland, Liverpool, Southport. For more information visit rimmersmusic.co.uk
