The country that Bolton will host during next year’s Rugby League World Cup will be announced today.

The announcement will also herald 500 days to go to the start of the much-anticipated competition.

Bolton is hosting two matches at the University of Bolton Stadium in Autumn 2021, including an England group game and a men’s quarter final.

The tournament schedule will then be announced next month with ticket pricing and pre-sale activity in August and September with tickets on sale to the public in October.

A Bolton Council spokesman said: “It’s a huge opportunity to showcase the best of Bolton internationally and how all our business organisations and local communities are amazing and are coming together to take the game to its heart.”

The council and the competition organisers are planning a series of activities to engage with the community and to celebrate.
