DAISY Hill’s league’s North West Counties League season is set to get underway on Saturday October 3.

League chiefs have announced their plans to clubs and have also revealed that cup competitions will be suspended as they look to counter the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and get football back on the pitch.

A league spokesman said: “The NWCFL have said from the outset that we will play games when safe to do so and when authorised by government guidance.

“We have also stated that as we plan for the new season we will have factored in planning for a number of situations, including contingency for a number of outcomes, and this remains the case going forwards.”

The league says those who are involved in local lockdowns or are subject to quarantine restrictions will have their fixtures delayed until a time they are authorised to play.

The Westhoughton side will find out who their first opponents will be when the Division One North fixtures are published later this month.
