PEOPLE in Horwich that have gone above and beyond to help the community during the Covid-19 pandemic have been officially recognised for their efforts.
The ‘Horwich Community Champions' initiative was launched by the town council in response to the great work done by individuals and organisations during the crisis.
It called on local people to come forward and nominate those they believed deserved an award for their efforts during last year's lockdowns.
The winners are now being presented with a special certificate of appreciation by the Town Mayor Gordon Stone.
Explaining the thinking behind the Champions initiative, a council spokesman said: "We think it's important to shout about and celebrate the community spirit and fantastic work that's been going on."
The mayor is pictured here handing out some of the certificates to winners, who include Dennise Silcock from lend a Hand in Horwich and Jane Woolfall and Cheryl Rutherford from Hiit Fit.
