An array of electric travel alternatives will be on display in Bury town centre on Clean Air Day (Thursday 21 June).

Head for The Rock between 11am and 3pm to have a go on the latest electric bikes, alongside the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Jane Black. There will also be a special offer on electric cycles on the day, offered by Leisure Lakes.

Visitors can also view the latest all-electric cars, displayed by RRG Bury outside the M&S store.

Staff from Bury Council will be there to discuss air quality in the borough and offer advice on how you can travel more sustainably. Why not check the carbon monoxide levels in your lungs, courtesy of Bury Lifestyle Service?

Residents are also invited to sign a pledge on Clean Air Day to walk or cycle more, leave the car at home one day a week, or to car share. For details, go tohttps://www.tfgm.com/air

Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, said: “Air pollution affects us all, especially children and those in ill health, and is linked to thousands of premature deaths each year.

“We know that road transport is largely responsible for the levels of pollution we have in Greater Manchester, so by changing our everyday travel habits we can all make a difference.”
