2019 sees the twentieth anniversary of the start of the only registered charity visiting service operating Horwich. We are based in Horwich Clinic in Jones St.

We are a passionate solely voluntary befriending service trying to alleviate loneliness in the mainly elderly people that we visit and we rely on our volunteers to accomplish this.

Our volunteers are the greatest people, giving their time to chat to people in their own homes to try to bring some friendship, laughter and enjoyment into the lives of people who often rarely get out and about. We promise a weekly visit of an hour a week but this often gets extended as our volunteers and visitees get to become good friends. We are an entirely confidential service – a charity run by local people for local people.

Horwich Visiting Service also has two or three enjoyable functions every year including barge trips, lunches with entertainment and our annual Christmas dinner. The dinner is a particularly joyful occasion with singing  from the lovely children of Horwich Parish School, this meal is supported by Horwich Council for which we are very grateful.

So if you want to add purpose to your life, volunteer with us to help the lonely and hopefully help yourself.
