Last weekend, Chris Green MP completed the ‘To the Pike and Back Half Marathon’ in 2 hours 16 minutes to raise money for Derian House Children’s Hospice.

The half marathon is considered one of the toughest in the UK and in just under a month’s time, the MP will also be running the London Marathon in aid of Derian House.

Mr Green chose to raise money for Derian House after learning that children’s hospices receive 50 percent less funding on average from the NHS and Clinical Commissioning Groups than adult’s hospices.

The Bolton MP also raised the matter in Parliament, calling for a debate on the funding disparity between adult’s and children’s hospices.

Mr Green said: “I’m very grateful to everyone who has shown me support so far and it’s brilliant to see that over £800 has already been raised for Derian House Children’s Hospice.

“This really spurred me on to complete the ‘to the Pike and Back Half Marathon’ last weekend and my time set a good benchmark ahead of the London Marathon next month.

“Derian House is fantastic charity, that provide respite and end-of-life to over 350 children and young people across the North West, so if you can donate, please visit my fundraising page.”
