The Great Pirate Adventure, will run from Mon 22 July until Sat 17 August. Entertain your young ones with FREE activities running hourly from 11am until 3pm Monday to Saturday.

At the pirate training school you will learn how to look, talk and act like a pirate. Sing a pirate song, make a pirate craft and dig for treasure! The exhibition is being designed by Octagon Scenic Artist & Prop Maker Carly Whickman with activities including, singing, storytelling and craft run by Bolton Museum staff.

The exhibition will be a great way to entertain children this summer and a perfect taste ahead of the classic tale of buccaneers and buried gold, Treasure Island, which the Octagon will be brining to life in a new stage adaptation this December.

Vicki Brown, Head of Creative Engagement at the Octagon comments: “We are really looking forward to working with the museum to entertain hundreds of children this summer. Pirates have fascinated children for decades and this will be a great interactive experience for children to be creative and use their imaginations to learn how to be a pirate themselves! We can’t wait to set sail with our swashbuckling production of Treasure Island this festive season and this exhibition is a brilliant way to get in the pirate mood this summer!”

Bolton Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Martyn Cox, said: “There is always plenty for families and children to enjoy at Bolton Library and Museum and I’m sure The Great Pirate Adventure will keep everyone entertained over the summer holidays.

The exhibition will be an opportunity for children to get creative, learn new things and use their imagination.”
