Children as young as 6 and up to the age of 16 took part in Rimmers Music School’s summer concert programme to showcase their talents and raise money for a good cause. Together the students raised £596 for their chosen local charities, with concerts taking place in Leyland and Bolton.

From dazzling drum performances to singing solos and guitar sessions, Rimmer’s music students wowed audiences at Bolton’s Astley Bridge Conservative club and Leyland and Farington Social Club.

Students raised funds for their chosen charities, Derian House, a local children’s hospice that supports over 400 young people across the North West, and The Bolton Destitute Animal Shelter, a rescue charity dedicated to caring for lost, stray and abandoned cats and dogs.

Both charities offered messages of thanks on their social media channels.

Derian House said thanks for their “kind-hearted fundraising to raise money and awareness for Derian House”.

Bolton Destitute Animal Shelter posted “We would like to say a big THANK YOU to the teachers and pupils of Rimmer’s Music Bolton for holding a summer concert and raising £190 for our animals.”

Commenting on the students’ success, Laura Heyes, Rimmers Music concert organiser, said:

“The concerts are a great opportunity to support a local cause. They’re also a good opportunity for students to practice and have something to work towards and perform. 98% of the students that perform are children, so it’s nice for their parents to see how far their children have come. Some parents might not have had the chance to see their children perform before. ”

Rimmers Music School offers music lessons to ages 5+ from their seven music shops across the North of England. The concert programme will return in December with the inaugural Christmas concerts.
