Self-storage company The Lock Up has recently announced that it will be launching a Christmas gift appeal in partnership with charity The Horwich and District Hub. Aiming to help families in the area, the collaboration is a perfect chance for businesses and members of the community to give back this holiday season.

The locally based charity was founded by Emma Gregson 5 years ago, now a committee have come together to continue the work what was started, a way to reduce waste and provide food packages and other edibles to those in need. Delivering a number of other indispensable services, such as access to clothing at a reduced cost, it has done much to enhance the lives and living conditions of low-income families in the area.

This is an initiative The Lock Up feels very passionately about, hence the company’s desire to work in collaboration with the Hub to ensure that those in need have a happier Christmas this year. Hoping to provide plenty of presents for people who would normally go without, they’re offering the community a chance to give back this holiday season.

With this in mind, The Lock Up has worked alongside staff and volunteers at the Horwich and District Hub to develop some suggested gift lists for age-appropriate presents, which can be found below:

• 0-3 years: Dolls, teddy bears, cot mobiles, baby clothes, bath toys, CDs of suitable music and nursery rhymes, puzzles.
• 3-5 years: Dolls and action figures, cars, lorries, DVDs and CDs (music and nursery rhymes), colouring sets, pencils, crayons, books and puzzles.
• 5-9 years: Educational games and toys, stationary (colouring sets, pencils, crayons, school sets), family friendly DVDs, books and puzzles.
• 9-12 years: Games and toys, stationary, DVDs, books, t-shirts, hair accessories, gloves, scarves, and hats.
• 13-16 years: Books, makeup, toiletries, nail polishes, gloves, scarves, hair accessories, and gift vouchers.
• Adults: Hampers and non-perishable food items (biscuits, chocolates, and savouries), gift sets for single mums and dads, toiletries, DVDs, books, watches, jewellery, and gift cards.

Accepting gifts now, until Saturday 14th December, the campaign will see all of your donated gifts distributed during Christmas week by the elves of the Hub, to bring plenty of smiles in time for the special day.

Should you wish to donate to the appeal, you can do so by delivering your presents to The Lock Up, Mason Street, Horwich, Bolton, BL6 5QH.

These drop offs can be made between 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday, or on weekends at a time which is convenient for you by contacting the Horwich and District Hub.

Why not get involved to bring some guaranteed cheer to families who might otherwise go without?
