OWNERS and drivers of electric vehicles in Adlington, along with those considering one in the future, are being encouraged to have their say on EV charging provision in the borough.

The consultation runs until October 22, with people able to get involved online by logging onto the council's website.

Peter Wilson, council deputy leader, said: "We recognise the impact that transport has on climate change and air quality.

"So, it's important that we gather information from residents and businesses about provisions for electric vehicles and how this may influence someone's decision to purchase an electric vehicle in the future. This information will also help demonstrate demand when applying for future funding."

The council declared a climate emergency in 2019, with air quality and sustainable transport being some of the key themes in the climate change programme.

Some of Chorley's initiatives include investing in sustainable technology and pledging to plant 116,000 trees in the borough by 2025, along with the creation of wildflower mini meadows and wildlife corridors.

Chorley has also appointed a dedicated climate change programme officer. A clean air strategy consultation held earlier this year will help prioritise future actions.
