A celebration of junior football

HORWICH RMI broke new ground with the football club’s first ever junior end of season presentation party.

The event, organised by the club’s events and fundraising officer Emily Wright-Fish, took place in the platinum suite at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Junior head coach Mike Fish took on the role of compare and was helped by parents selling raffle and tombola tickets to raise funds for the not-for-profit club.

A spokesperson for Horwich RMI said: “With the club’s junior side rapidly expanding we thought this would be a great way to celebrate our success and honour our dedicated coaches, players and committee members who voluntarily work tirelessly throughout the year.”

The club bow has a total of 11 junior teams with 120 children playing the game and most attended the event, along with parents and grandparents. It is now set to become an annual event. 

The club’s junior team of the year award went to the Under-7s Tornadoes.  Junior player of the year was awarded to Tommy Fox. The clubman of the year was awarded to coach Rob Lomax. The coach of the year award went to Georgios Ttofa and the chairman’s award was presented to coach Kiran Salvi.

Congratulations were also sent to the Under-8s Rockets, who finished runners-up in the higher-level cup competition, playing in the final at Manchester City’s academy.

Thew spokesperson added: “We would like to thank the local businesses who donated to the club so we could offer some amazing raffle and tombola prizes. We’re very much looking forward to the next event.”
