The MG HS SUV was voted best car for city drivers while the all-electric MG5 EV estate was crowned best car for dog owners, The results were based on the opinion of 156,500 real car owners. Praised by owners for its com- fort, safety, and reliability, the MG HS fought off strong competition from the Toyota Yaris and Vaux- hall Corsa to claim its prize. Sporty on the outside yet fami- ly-friendly on the inside, the MG HS is available with a choice of a spritely but efficient 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a plug-in hybrid model that delivers up to 32 miles of electric-only driv- ing with zero tailpipe emissions – enough for a typical commute. Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s edi- torial director, said: “The MG HS might be a large SUV, but owners who live in the city absolutely love it. They value its comfort, safety and the reliability it brings. We received some brilliant feedback from owners who told us the MG was so easy to charge and is great for use in towns. Some commented on the exceptional interior as well as the very low running costs.” The all-electric MG5 EV, mean- while, collected the award for best car for dog owners after it drew praise for its space and practical- ity, beating competing finalists the Toyota RAV4 and Peugeot 208. “When it comes to the best car for dogs, consumers valued space, comfort and ease of use for trans- porting their four-legged friends,” said Baker. The 100 per cent electric MG5 EV offers up to 250 miles of driving range (WLTP) and rapid charging to 80 per cent in just 61 minutes. Its highly practical estate body style delivers 578 litres of storage space, rising to 1,456 litres with the rear seats folded, in a cargo area filled with clever touches such as a dual-height boot floor. Both the MG5 and MG HS fea- ture a generous level of standard equipment that includes adaptive cruise control, automatic head- lights, a rear parking camera, and a state-of-the-art infotain- ment system. The historic MG brand recently announced it had enjoyed a record start to 2022, achieving more sales in the first five months of this year than in the entirety of 2020, a notable performance that looks set to continue thanks to a number of new models promised for later this year. All MGs are backed by a com- prehensive seven-year warranty with support from a network of more than 150 dealerships across the country. Prices for the MG HS start at £22,625 on-the-road, with the all-electric MG5 EV available from £28,195. THE electrification of Nis- san’s range continues with dealers taking orders for an advanced hybrid powertrain now available on the iconic compact crossover. Designed to provide the driver with responsive acceleration, refined cruising and efficient low emissions; all whilst emphasising maximum use of EV mode, with- out any additional driver input, the Juke Hybrid delivers the best of all worlds. The Juke hybrid range sits alongside the existing Juke line-up and starts with N-Connecta grade, followed by the Tekna and Tekna+. N-Connecta starts from £27,250 OTR which is £1,730 more than its equivalent non-hybrid auto- matic version and extends up to the highly equipped and stylish Tekna + at £30,150. All hybrid versions come equipped with Nissan’s e-Pedal Step which, when activated, allows the movement of the car to be controlled using just the acceler- ator pedal. When the foot is lifted from the accelerator, moderate braking is applied (up to 0.15g) and will decel- erate the Juke to a crawl. Externally the hybrid can be identified by the new front grille mesh design with a smaller aper- ture to optimise aero efficiency Nissan on the charge and hybrid badging fitted to the side and rear of the vehicle. All-new Nissan Ariya-de- rived two-tone 19” Aero alloy wheels are now standard on Tekna+ models for visual impact and efficiency. Juke hybrid also benefits from the product improvements recently introduced on the overall Juke range, including two-tone 17” alloy wheels, a more aerodynamic rear spoiler, improved audio sys- tem now with 10 speakers and improved keyless entry which includes walk away lock / approach unlock function. Two new colours - Ceramic Grey and Magnetic Blue - have also been added. Inside the car, the driver’s information display has been redesigned to give more information about the new electri- fied powertrain status. The right-hand of the driver’s two instrument dials shows speed and the left-hand dial shows a power gauge. Within the lower por- tion of the left-hand dial, there’s a gauge showing the battery’s state of charge. The button for e-Pedal is positioned in the centre console, behind the electric parking brake switch, while the button to activate 100 per cent EV mode is between two of the central air-vents. For the introduction of the hybrid version a new ‘Premiere Edition’ has been added to the range. With a limited run of only 750 vehicles, this special version priced from £28,250, will be the first hybrid versions to arrive inNissan dealers showrooms from the end of July.
