Y10 pupils at Bolton School Girls’ Division took a day off timetable to throw themselves into a one-day Film School where they learnt about filmmaking and visual media creation.  In a practical and entertaining day, girls enjoyed workshops focussing on film history, screenwriting and camerawork as well as onscreen fight choreography. The eleventh Young Film Academy (YFA) at Bolton School was delivered by Director and Founder of the YFA, Ed Boase and Lewis Hart, an actor and writer.

Once the girls had mastered the basics, they had to then plan and shoot their own Ten-Shot Film in a real-world environment. Developing communication and teamwork skills, each girl had to fulfil specific roles within their teams and hit project deadlines to be in with a chance of winning the coveted Best Film award at the end-of-the-day Film Festival. After each of the six films was aired on the big screen the winner was proclaimed as ‘A Spoonful of Disaster’.
