Hough & Sons is a new funeral service set up by Ryan Hough. After working for several years in the profession, Ryan is one of Bolton’s youngest funeral directors. A COMMUNITY library created in an old bus in the grounds of Gates Pri- mary School in West- houghton has been officially opened. Westhoughton Town Council gave the project £500 towards buying books and supermarket group Tesco contributed the same amount. The mayor of West- houghton Gillian Wroe officially opened the new library by cutting a rib- bon watched by children from the school. School head Sean Doher ty thanked businesses and local groups who had sup- ported the idea of the Reading Bus which has taken 12 months to create. A school spokesper- son said: “We were delighted to officially open our Reading Bus today. Thank you to the mayor and mayoress for attending to mark the occasion and celebrate the year-long transfor- mation project. “Sincere thanks to all of the local businesses and families who helped with the transformation and to those who made IN BRIEF ST JOSEPH’S RC High School in Horwich has been collecting food donations for the charity Benefit Mankind. Student also visited the charity to help make up make up emergency food parcels, homeless packs and learn about the work of the charity. THE Rotary Club of Horwich is calling on community groups based in the town and in Blackrod to apply for one of its 2026 grants. Applications are now open for organisations to take part in a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style competition. The club has a £7,500 fund this year. HORWICH Heritage hosted a talk by guest speaker David Lloyd on the ‘Lost Plans for Bolton’. GREATER Manchester hosted a visit of Ukrainian mayors who shared their first‑hand experience of governing and maintaining essential services under sustained attack and disruption.
