From the Horwich Advertiser of January 2002
Father Harry Jones conducted a closing Christmas service and mass at St Mary's RC Primary School on Chorley New Road, in Horwich as the last event at the site as the children leave for their new school on Victoria Road due to open for the January term. School governors and staff along with pupils and local people attended the service during which school caretaker Arthur Chadwick was presented with an ink drawing of the school, as a token of his hard work in helping the transition from the old school buildings.
Head Teacher Claire Massingham will also head up the staff at the new school with all the staff from St Mary's moving over to the new premises. With improved and modernised facilities the move will be a great benefit for both pupils and staff alike. We wish them good luck in their new home. Our picture shows the old school hall decked out with some of the original school regalia for the last time.
