The pies have it in Blackrod

A BLACKROD pub has joined the upper crust of pie makers! Heroes, on Manchester Road, has scooped a silver medal at the Annual British Pie Awards in the home town of the pork pie, Melton Mowbray. Judges at the competition chomped their way through more than 800 entries from pubs and restaurants across the country. Heroes proprietors, Krissy and John Bradley, came up with a mouth-watering entry in the aptly named ‘Pie Fit For A Hero’ category. Their potato, turnips, red and white onions and corned beef recipe tackled the judges’ taste-buds and they were awarded a silver medal. Pictured is one of the award-winning pies from Heroes
