Year 6 children at Lord Street Primary School, Horwich, organised a Charity Talent Show to raise money for Derian House Children's Hospice. Year 6 discussed and planned how the night would work and how the school could raise money and wrote to local businesses persuading them to donate raffle prizes (in which we got over £500 worth from businesses such as Cherry Tree, Chiquitos, Sainsburys, Car Essentials, Circo Leisure, Bella Vida - and many more). The night, the school's first-ever talent show, was a sell out in every respect - over 1,000 raffle tickets sold and over 120 entry tickets sold) and it was a huge success, raising £361 for Derian House. It was a wonderful evening with acts including martial arts, disco dancing, singing, gymnastics and music. The evening was supported by Turton High School who provided staging, lighting and musical equipment and Science teacher, Mark Sykes and events manager Sean Bennett, even DJ'd. Pictured are Key Stage 1 winners and Key Stage 2 winner with the teachers who organised the event and of course, Derian Danni (charity mascot).
