THE Tree Barn at Little Scotland in Blackrod organised the picking of some choice spruce buds in the summer ready to make the first batch of Spruce Beer in time for Christmas sales.
The beer has been made by Standish-based Prospect Brewery, and owners John and Patsy Slevin are seen here in our picture with Tree Barn MD Chris Hodge launching the concept at the Christmas Tree centre
Spruce Beer has been a long time favourite in Canada and the team are delighted to introduce their version for the first time in the UK. It’s also available at the Brewery’s own pub The Silver Tally in Almond Brook, Standish.
Money from sales of this unique and collectable ale at the nursery will go to The Tree Barn charity of Derian House Children’s Hospice. Christmas Trees and Spruce Ale plus spruced-smoked bacon are available now from the nursery. Stocks are limited so it will be first come first served.
