Talented youngsters honoured

THE Youth Achievement Award Scheme run by the Rotary Club of Horwich is designed to foster the development of individual talent for young people, under the age of 19, who live or attend school in Horwich or Blackrod.

The scheme is not means tested and is concerned solely with identifying and developing individual talent in all forms of activity, regardless of family circumstances.

This year the scheme attracted a large number of quality applicants and we are pleased to make the following awards:

Bolton School (Boys Division): Dominic Walker – Swimming.

Bolton School (Girls Division): Madison Brownley – Dance,  Millie Brownley – Dance,  Juliet Marshall - Dance

Canon Slade High School: Samuel Atkinson – Swimming,  Zoe Harley – Swimming

Cardinal Newman College, Preston: Nathan Townsend – Athletics.

Preston College: Shonagh Leatherbarrow – Dance.

Runshaw College, Leyland:  Edward Jordan – Rock Climbing,  Ella Nightingale – Sabre Fencing.

St. Joseph’s High School:  Emma Hilton – Dance, Lorcan Knowles – Sailing,  Katie Thompson – Gymnastics.

St. Michael’s High School, Chorley:  Laurie Clark – Tennis.

Rivington And Blackrod High School:  Charlotte Antoni – Thai Boxing, Joshua Banks – Tennis,  Lauren Banks – Tennis,  Camish Carter – Singing, Rebecca Crookson – Musical Theatre, Thomas Crookson – Golf, Safron Curley – Artistic Roller Skating,  Emily Digby – Tennis,  Martha Gill – Mountain Biking.   Rebecca Greenfield – Rugby League,, Georgia Lever –Athletics,  Beth Platt – Ballet,  Grace Russell – Dance,  Angela Tillotson – Dance, Mia Wild – Disco Dancing.

Rivington Park Independent School:-  Aaliyah Sharplin – Fencing

Winstanley College, Wigan:   Holly Clark – Music.

A total of £3,750 has been allocated under this scheme to help these talented young people with their future development.

This money has been raised by members of the Rotary Club of Horwich, during the current Rotary Year. 

The Rotary Club of Horwich wishes to thank the people of Horwich and Blackrod for their generosity and feel that this scheme is an excellent way of investing in the talent of our young people.
