Former Rivington and Blackrod HS pupil Stephen Speak returned to the school to present a copy of his latest book to the library.

‘Cricket Mercenary’ is a funny and fascinating insight into cricket across four continents, drawing on his more than 30 years in the game.

Born in Blackrod, Mr Speak played for the town’s cricket team before moving on to represent Lancashire second XI.

He eventually moved to the United States where he featured for the national team.

A full interview with Stephen Speak with the Horwich Advertiser newshounds will appear in the next edition of the paper.
