Bolton Ramblers will be undertaking a leisurely 4 mile walk following canals, rivers and an old railway line in the Blackrod area on Sunday, March 10th.

This is a circular walk which heads north across fields from the A6, crosses the River Douglas and passes the fishing lodges at Lower Adlington.  It then recrosses the A6, following the river under a Victorian aqueduct and emerging on to the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.  After following at times the river and at times the canal through Blackrod Bottoms to Arley Hall, the walk then returns to the starting point via an old mineral line railway and quiet roads.

Meet at 2pm at the lay-by on the A6 just before the intersection of the A6 and Chorley Road (B5408) near Hawthorns Restaurant and the Douglas Valley Golf Course.  If taking the 575 bus from Bolton, alight at the first stop on Chorley Road and walk back along the A6.

This walk is free and there is no need to book.  Just turn up with suitably sturdy walking gear.  For further information, visit: www.boltonramblers.org.uk or phone Lou on 07815 076 797.
