WIGAN Warriors will play Leeds Rhinos in the semi-finals of this year’s Coral Challenge Cup.

The draw for the semis was made during half time ay Wigan’s Quarter Final tie with Hull FC.

After Adrian Lam’s side beat the Black and Whites 4-36 at the AJ Bell Stadium, they will now face Richard Agar’s Leeds on Saturday October 3.

Holders Warrington Wolves will play Salford in the other semi, which will take place on the same day as a double-header. Details of the venue and kick off time have yet to be confirmed.

Coach Lam was delighted with the Cherries’ performance and the return of captain Sean O’Loughlin, back in action after spending a number of months injured.

Speaking after the win Lam said: “He was outstanding. He gives us a completely different attacking style and does it better than anyone in the world I believe.

“Just looking around the dressing room before a quarter final of the Challenge Cup and you’re seeing Sean O’Loughlin ready to play, it can only boost the players.”

He also praised the performances of his young forward pack. Lam said: “There’s obviously a few of our middles out at the moment, but those guys have been going great for us for a long time now.

“It’s hard to single out anyone through the middle, they were all quite consistent I thought. I’m really pleased for them. They are the future of the club.”
