The team at Four Season’s St Catherine’s Care Home in Horwich were delighted to welcome visitors back inside to be reunited with their loved ones this week.

One of the first visitors through the door was Anne Jackson who had never been inside the home before, as her mum, Margaret Cadman, aged 89, moved in straight after a hospital admission in June 2020 making the visit even more poignant.

Although Anne and her brother have had window visits, they haven’t been able to have physical contact with their mum for 9 months.

An overjoyed Anne explained: “Mum has been very poorly and when she had to go to hospital during the first lockdown we had no idea when or even if we would be able to see her again. Seeing mum properly at last and being able to hold her hand was everything I’d hoped for and more. I told her that I was giving her some of my strength as I held her hand and I think she understood. The carers at St. Catherine’s are angels and I’ll never be able to thank them enough.”

The home’s manager, Gillian Johnson, said: “It has been a joyous few days; we’ve had a steady stream of visitors and everyone here is elated. Anne being reunited with her mum was so emotional for both the family and the team here and we are so looking forward to helping more and more family members reunite properly with their loved ones.”

St Catherine’s Care Home is located in Queen Street, Horwich, Bolton and provides residential, nursing, dementia and palliative care.
