A NEW Furness Building Society agency at the offices of accountants Leach Briely in Horwich has ensured that the town has access to the services offered by a building society. The new agency on the corner of Lee Lane and Winter Hey Lane was opened by Furness Building Society Chief Executive Nigel Quinton with Leach Briely partners Ray Hamer and Alan Leach, and was followed by a reception for customers as an introduction to the full range of savings and investment facilities now available. The agency will also give customers in Horwich access to the mortgage services offered by the Furness which was named Best Regional Building Society for 2013 and 2014 by the leading industry magazine Mortgage Finance Gazette. Leach Briely had previously operated an agency for Santander but that recently closed – one of almost 140 agencies axed by Santander across the UK. The Furness stepped in to become the only building society which still has a presence in Horwich. Alan Leach said: "We were delighted to be approached by the Furness about establishing a new agency at our offices. "Leach Briely deals with a wide range of clients and it is a huge advantage to have easy access to market-leading savings and investment products, as well as providing an asset for the people of Horwich." Nigel Quinton added: "At the Furness we understand that customers making important decisions about saving, investment or mortgages often want to be able to discuss those decisions face to face. "Our strategy is therefore to expand our High Street presence across the North West, alongside providing internet-based services and telephone access to advice and products. "For the Furness it all comes under the heading of offering exceptional and personal customer service."
