Bolton Symphony Orchestra are performing a French Connections Concert on Saturday March 11th (7.30pm) in the Victoria Hall in Bolton.
The programme will consist of music by the well-known French composers, Ravel, Debussy and Bizet.
One of the pieces is Ravel’s Bolero, famously used as the accompanying music to Torvill and Dean’s Gold Medal Ice Skating performance at the 1984 Olympic Games. Also being played, will be Bizet’s popular opera, Carmen, which has many well-known tunes including the Habanera and the Toreador Song, which are among the best known of all operatic arias.
They also have their very own Principal clarinetist, Lynn Threadgold, who will be playing Debussy’s Premiere Rhapsodie for Clarinet.
At the helm of the orchestra, will be two young guest conductors (pictured above), both of whom are post-graduate students at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Elspeth Slorach and Robin Wallington. These students both show great promise for highly successful future conducting careers.
Ticket are £10 for adults and absolutely FREE for Under 19s.
